Few people know it, but about half of the waste produced by french citizens goes through on of the 5000+ recycling centers of France. However, most of these facilities are old and inadequate to the tremendous flow of people using them all year long. The objective was to find a solution that would help reduce affluence peaks.

We have designed sensors capable of estimating affluence based on smartphones wi-fi signatures while respecting privacy and knowing the availability of bins in recycling centers.

This information is provided in real time to citizens.

A very simple web app enables the citizens to know where and when they should go to recycling centers. It also optimizes the rotations of the containers.

The next step is to enhancing reuse by connecting waste producers and waste consumers, whoever they may be.
